The Mississauga Chargers are proud to name Luca Morano as team captain for the 2026–27 Ontario Junior Hockey League season.
Entering his third season with the Chargers, Morano has established himself as a respected presence within the organization and will now take on a new leadership role as he wears the captain’s “C” this season.
“Being named captain of the Chargers is a huge honour to me,” said Morano. “It shows the immense support and belief that our coaches have in me to lead our team, both on and off the ice. Going into my third season with the team, I take a lot of pride in the success of this organization and can’t wait to begin this chapter as captain.”
For Morano, leadership will be about more than what happens during games. He hopes to lead by example while being someone his teammates can rely on throughout the season.
“I will be a leader who leads by example, both on and off the ice,” Morano explained. “I hope to be the go-to guy for any of my teammates to lean on and learn from.”
Having learned from the veteran players who came before him, Morano wants to pass that experience along to the next generation of Chargers.
“I’ve learned a lot from and looked up to my past veteran teammates, and I hope to have that same effect on our younger guys,” he said.
One of Morano’s biggest priorities as captain will be creating a strong sense of unity within the Chargers dressing room.
“One of the biggest goals I hope to achieve from a leadership standpoint is to build a brotherhood within our team,” Morano said. “Both on and off the ice, I want to make sure every teammate knows that they have a brother next to them who is willing to do whatever it takes to make their job easier. That is a standard that will be established from the very beginning of this season.”
As the Chargers prepare for the 2026–27 campaign, Morano is looking forward to watching the team grow together and develop the bond that can make a successful season special.
“I’m most looking forward to seeing how we grow together as a team,” he said. “Looking back on my past two years in the OJHL, the best memories are seeing your teammates become brothers that you go to battle with every day, whether it’s at practice or in a game.”
With a new season comes a new chapter for Morano and the Chargers. As captain, he is embracing the responsibility of helping lead the team both on and off the ice.
“I believe that with the group we have, we’ll have a team full of leaders by the end of the season,” Morano said.
